There are many jobs that a meteorologist can have. There is traditional forecasting, government, military and private opportunities as well as jobs on consulting, independent information research, radio, research, teaching and television. To get your first job you will have to network and attend AMS and National Weather Association (NWA) meetings, becoming a volunteer will also help. As far as broadcast forecasting is concerned your first job will most likely be in a rural area far away from a city and you will most likely be asked to move close or in this small area.
